How Learn & Play exercises use Card Swipe and Card Choice
A parent guide to Tomorrow Kid’s Learn & Play Exercises—paginated cards, age/difficulty chips, Pro locks, Card Swipe vs Card Choice, offline cache, and why it is not on Home today.
What Learn & Play is for
Tomorrow Kid’s Exercises vertical is branded Learn & Play—a paginated library of exercise cards with cover art, age chips, difficulty levels, optional OceanTree Pro locks, and offline media cache. Each exercise opens either Card Swipe (card_swipe) or Card Choice (card_choice) play, using image / word / sentence / character / colour cards.
It is not a Home bento tile right now. Launch goes straight to Home (Flashcards, Quizzes, Stories, Tracing, and the rest). The Learn & Play code still ships—lists, sync, Parent Notes, and report flows stay intact—so families who meet it (or when it returns to Home) get the same library, not a demo stub.
Distinct from Parent Notes (coaching tips on the ⋯ menu) and from Home Flashcards / Quizzes (separate look-listen and tap-answer verticals).
How browsing and play work
- Open the Learn & Play list (
ExerciseListViewSupabase)—banner title, Settings via the parent math gate, locale-aware exercise pages - Skim cards for age range (“Ages N–M” / “Ages N+”), difficulty (“Level …”), category, and Pro locks (locked taps run the subscription parent gate → paywall)
- Tap an unlocked card—detail sync downloads cover / background media before play when needed (
ExerciseDetailSyncService/ local cache) - Card Swipe—page through assignment cards one at a time (listen / look / swipe pace)
- Card Choice—tap the right choice among shuffled options, with feedback and calm auto-advance
- Use the card ⋯ menu for Parent Notes (coaching) or Report a problem (feedback)—not the same action
Empty state copy stays gentle: “No exercises yet!” / “New exercises are coming soon.” Offline-ready badges and cached downloads keep previously opened exercises workable without inventing a second Home tile.
A calm way to introduce it at home
- Prefer Home Flashcards or Quizzes for tonight’s habit if Learn & Play is not on the bento—same card-learning energy, different surface.
- When Learn & Play is available, pick one free (non-Pro) exercise that matches the age chip before unlocking Pro packs.
- Open Parent Notes once yourself, then let the child own Card Swipe or Card Choice.
- Treat Pro locks like optional later unlocks—not tonight’s homework.
- If Wi‑Fi is weak, open an exercise online once so media can cache, then replay offline later.
What to try next
Use Learn & Play when you want assignment-style card practice beyond the Home Flashcards and Quizzes tiles. Pair it with Parent Notes for coaching, OceanTree Pro only when a lock blocks a pack you truly want, and Daily Goal for “enough for today.” When you are ready, open Tomorrow Kid and explore the learning verticals—Learn & Play still ships alongside them for when the library is surfaced again.
